United Nations & Zonta- Get Active!

What is the United Nations connection?

Zonta International enjoys consultative status with the United Nations ECOSOC committee. This allows for Zonta and other like-minded organizations to raise heavy concerns towards the UN’s future funding of various countries’ programs to advance women and girls worldwide. The 68th Annual Commission on the Status of Women Event, at the UN in NYC, March 11-22, 2024, is a highlight event for Zontians from anywhere can attend. Zontians get active by presenting side events, attending sessions in the UN chambers and then returning home to their districts to lead discussions and generate meaningful change.

What is CSW?

The CSW is the largest annual gathering on women’s rights worldwideand is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women. Every March, there is a formal gathering of the agencies and organizations in New York, NY, to influence the UN ECOSOC Committee on policies regarding building a better world for women and girls, and funding decisions. Zonta’s voice at CSW in New York, provided by members of District 5, can help to change gender inequities!
