Zonta International District 5 Fall Conference Galt House Hotel and Suites October 17 – 19, 2008
Hosted by the Zonta Club of
Louisville Dear District 5 Zonta Members, We are racing toward the finish line in our planning and preparation for the District 5 Fall Conference! The Zonta Club of Louisville and your District Board has been working hard to ensure the weekend is an informative and fun-filled event with Zontians Winning through Service and Advocacy! The Galt House Hotel & Suites is Louisville’s only downtown waterfront hotel. Located in the heart of downtown’s business and entertainment district, the Galt House is the largest hotel in the state with 1300 total rooms. Fourth Street Live is an entertainment complex located three blocks from the hotel with Hard Rock Café, Makers Mark Bourbon House, Sully’s Restaurant and more! Major attractions are the famous Louisville Slugger Museum, Muhammad Ali Center and Frazier Historical Arms Museum within a three block walking distance from hotel. Transportation around downtown is easyand convenient as the Toonerville Trolley boards right in front of the hotel. During Conference, we will be voting on proposed language to update our District Bylaws/Rules of Procedures. Therefore, Clubs should plan to elect delegate(s) during their September business meeting. In addition, Club Presidents have received the proposed language and are encouraged to review and discuss thoroughly with members. Friday night we begin with dinner, followed by installation of District 5’s Board Members and then our keynote speaker Cathe Dykstra, Executive Director of Project Women. Business Session One will include roll call of delegates and presentation of Conference program and rules. Saturday will begin with the Presidents’ Breakfast where dates will be selected for Spring Area Meetings and exchange of ideas for the upcoming biennium. Discussion and voting on District Bylaws/Resolutions proposed language will immediately follow. This will be followed by a panel discussion by three women leaders speaking on Providing Access for All Women thru Service and Advocacy. Our first timers will be honored during lunch with guest speaker Marsha Weinstein speaking on Gender Equality. The afternoon session will consist of four excellent workshops – please review the back page for more information. To make certain all workshop information is taken back home, bring at least five club members to attend different workshops. Saturday evening promises to be a “Photo Finish” with great food, entertainment and our celebrated silent auction and raffle. Sunday begins with our Memorial Tribute to those Zontians who have departed this past year. Then a breakfast buffet, highlights of Rotterdam Convention, closing remarks, and Call to 2009 Conference. Please plan to be with us! October is a beautiful time of the year to visit Kentucky! Be sure to register early to take advantage of the special Zonta hotel room rate as well as reduced registration fees. Fill up your cars and vans with fellow Zontians as we gain knowledge on how to be Zontians Winning through Service and Advocacy! We look forward to welcoming you to Louisville! Governor Amy Grubbe Conference Co-Chairs Tonya Eubank & Joyce Seymour
